Nationalmuseum - Södra Blasieholmshamnen 2, Stockholm

While most of the artists might be less known than the great masters, there are some beautiful pieces here. The museum was founded in 1792 as Kungliga Museet ("Royal Museum"). The present building was opened in 1866, when it was renamed the Nationalmuseum, and used as one of the buildings to hold the 1866 General Industrial Exposition of Stockholm . The current building, built between 1844 and 1866, was inspired by North Italian Renaissance architecture. Natioalmuseum opens as of April 6. The museum has been adapted to the Swedish Public Health Agency's regulations, including further restrictions on the number of visitors calculated per square meter per person.
